  • Ping Coombes

    Ping Coombes

Ping is a home cook who has propelled herself into a ‘dream come true’ world of cooking after winning the coveted MasterChef trophy back in 2014. She grew up in Ipoh, a town in Malaysia which people around the country travel to for good food. She moved to the UK to study in 2000 and found that she craved food from home. Her aim is to spread some love for Malaysian food in the UK. She travels all over to promote Malaysian cuisine and her debut cook book “Malaysia”.

We have twice hosted Ping’s Makan Supper Club here at The Green with great success. This is where she showcases flavours of Malaysia, some traditional, some modern and some downright crazy experiments!

Ping also runs a cookery school in her home kitchen a stone’s throw from The Green called Ping’s Masak Club. Unlike many cookery schools, hers is very personal and intimate as she only takes a maximum of 6 students at a time.
